“Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated his Belarusian counterpart on winning the presidential elections in the Republic of Belarus. The leaders of the countries also briefly discussed key issues regarding the development of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on international matters,” — the message states.
“Kursiv” wrote that over 80% of voters cast their ballots for the current head of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, in the presidential elections held last Sunday.
Lukashenko has been in power for more than 30 years. He first assumed the office of head of the republic in 1994, securing 80.1% of the votes at that time.
