The Committee for State Revenues has commented on the list of bloggers and their alleged incomes that is actively circulating on social media, Tengri Life reports.
The agency noted that this list is not an official document and is unrelated to any ongoing tax audits.
"The list being circulated on social media is not an act of the state revenue body, under which tax control is conducted," the KGD stated.
Nevertheless, the question remains as to how this data about bloggers leaked from the tax authorities. Previously, several influencers from the list confirmed to us that they received a letter from the tax office and verified the amounts they were accused of concealing.
We have sent an official inquiry to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It is noteworthy that the KGD also explained why tax officers began to check Kazakhstani bloggers.
Additionally, the Deputy Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA), Zhenis Elemesov, shared whether bloggers who fail to pay taxes face criminal prosecution.
Recall that bloggers in Kazakhstan have received mass tax notifications about debts amounting to billions of tenge. According to the Committee for State Revenues, 594 individuals understated their incomes by a total of 53.3 billion tenge. Blogger Alisher Yelikbaev reported on his page that the amounts of additional taxes for some colleagues exceed 300 million tenge. This indicates that their alleged turnovers should be around 1 billion tenge.
We have determined that notifications were sent to bloggers with more than 20,000 subscribers. Many of them received unexpectedly large amounts due for additional tax, which sparked a wave of outrage. More details can be found in the article.
Tax expert Dmitry Kazantsev reflected on the claims made by tax authorities against Kazakhstani bloggers regarding income understatement. He explained how tax officers identified the "deception" of the influencers. For more information, follow the link.
