Although the title fight for the UFC welterweight championship between Kazakhstan's Shavkat Rakhmonov and American-Palestinian Belal Muhammad has been postponed to a later date, MMA experts are eagerly anticipating this bout, reports Caravan.kz.
Shavkat's victories are celebrated not only in his home country of Kazakhstan but throughout the former USSR.
For instance, Russian manager and head of AMC Fight Nights league, Kamil Gadzhiev, is confident that if Rakhmonov secures the UFC title, Kazakhstan will receive an additional pleasant bonus.
“I was genuinely pleased to see Shavkat's status as a national hero; it's inspiring that guys from MMA are reaching such heights. Right now, people talk about him similarly to how they once talked about Gennady Golovkin, more or less. And I can only imagine what would happen if Shavkat wins the UFC championship title. Then the UFC might possibly come to Kazakhstan,” — said Kamil Gadzhiev.
Earlier, the promoter of Rakhmonov, Sayat Abdrakhmanov, shared his thoughts on the conditions for holding a UFC tournament in Kazakhstan.
