A small medical aircraft, the Learjet 55, crashed in Philadelphia. It fell onto a residential area, specifically into the parking lot of a shopping center. There were six people on board, reports Tengrinews.kz citing CBS.
The medical plane was en route from Philadelphia to Springfield, Missouri, having taken off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The aircraft went down in a densely populated residential neighborhood just minutes after takeoff, landing in the parking lot of Roosevelt Mall.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that at the time of the crash, there were six individuals on board: four crew members, a child patient, and a patient’s escort. The company’s statement reads: "At this time, we cannot confirm the presence of survivors."
Several individuals on the ground were also injured.
A city official reported that several homes and vehicles caught fire after being struck by debris from the plane.
Just the day before, another plane crashed in the U.S., colliding with a helicopter. Approximately 60 people were on board, and all of them perished.
