С 1 февраля в Алматы вступают в силу новые тарифы на водоснабжение.

Starting from February 1, the water supply tariffs in Almaty will change. This was reported by Asel Budeneeva, head of the Department of the Committee for Regulation of Natural Monopolies, as conveyed by Tengrinews.kz referencing the Almaty.tv channel.

The average tariff for water supply will be 135 tenge per cubic meter, while the wastewater treatment tariff will be slightly over 83 tenge. For the population, the basic water tariff will rise to 91 tenge per cubic meter, and the wastewater treatment tariff will reach 83 tenge.

"The additional revenue generated by natural monopoly entities from differentiated tariffs, based on consumption volumes, will be directed towards priority tasks in the housing and utilities sector, including the implementation of resource-saving technologies, repair works, metering, and other objectives," Budeneeva stated.

As noted by the TV channel, the Akimat of Almaty will compensate for the tariff increases for socially vulnerable citizens. This group includes veterans, individuals with disabilities, large families, pensioners, and other categories in need of support. According to the head of the Employment and Social Programs Department, over 141,000 people in the metropolis are receiving compensation, with the total amount of assistance provided since July 1, 2023, reaching almost 5.5 billion tenge.

"The social support measure of 0.8 MRP fully covers the increase in housing tariffs for areas not exceeding 40 square meters. Considering the annual growth of the monthly calculation indicator by 6.5 percent, the current social payment for supporting SUSN will completely cover the recent tariff increases," said Baurzhan Zhaubasov, head of the city's Employment and Social Programs Department.
