The appeal concerning the defendant who deceived pop singer Roza Rymbaeva and Daulet Turlikhanov out of tens of millions of tenge has been reviewed by the appellate instance of the Almaty City Court, reports Tengrinews.kz correspondent.
The appeal against citizen S. Bekkairov, as clarified by the press service of the Almaty City Court, was filed by one of the victims.
"The part regarding the sentence remains unchanged, while the civil claim has been modified. The amount of damage to one of the victims has, according to preliminary data, increased from 39 to 54 million tenge. The exact amount will be specified in the court ruling," the court stated.
It is worth recalling that Bekkairov was found guilty in May 2024 by the Medeu District Court of Almaty under Article 190, Part 4, Clause 2 ("Fraud in a particularly large amount") and sentenced to imprisonment in a medium-security colony for 6 years and 8 months.
According to the ruling, he was ordered to pay the victims for material damages: 533.7 million tenge to Daulet Turlikhanov, 91.1 million tenge to Roza Rymbaeva, and over 60 million tenge to two other victims combined.
It should be noted that in 2022, Bekkairov was already convicted for a similar crime.
Roza Rymbaeva and Daulet Turlikhanov became victims of the fraudster back in 2013. Bekkairov convinced Turlikhanov to invest 1.2 million dollars in a non-existent investment project - the construction of an asphalt concrete plant.
Bekkairov approached Roza Rymbaeva through acquaintances in 2017 after learning that she was selling real estate. He entered into a sales transaction with the singer and handed her 195 thousand dollars, promising to pay the remaining amount later. However, he never paid the promised 69 million 427 thousand 350 tenge.
