One of the first memorable moments related to sports occurred at the Australian Open Grand Slam tournament held in Melbourne, Australia, as reported by Caravan.kz.
Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev, seeded 5th in the tournament, faced a challenging match in the first round against the world’s 418th-ranked player, Kasidit Samrae from Thailand.
The first set was won by Daniil (6:2), but then things took a turn, and the next two sets went to the Thai representative — 4:6, 3:6. This infuriated Medvedev so much that he vented all his frustration on the net. In the video footage, it’s evident how he "punishes" the net by "beating" it with his racket. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries, aside from a broken racket.
After releasing his anger, Medvedev regrouped and secured victory in a tough match — 6:1, 6:2.
After the match, the Russian admitted that he was impressed by the level of his opponent. In his excitement, Medvedev jokingly promised Samrae girls and casinos.
“I was surprised by the level of my opponent. If he continues to play like this, his life will be good: money, girls, casinos, and so on,” said Daniil Medvedev.
