Olympic medalist leaves Kazakhstan: Minister explains the situation.

The bronze medalist of the 2016 Olympics in judo, Galbadrakh Otgontsetseg, who was naturalized by Kazakhstan, has returned to her homeland of Mongolia. The Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Yerbol Myrzabosynov, explained the situation, as reported by Caravan.kz.

During a press conference at the Government, the head of the department stated that the naturalized athlete from Mongolia not only won a medal for Kazakhstan but also served as a consultant for the Kazakhstani national team in the years following her victory.

“She was a bronze medalist at the Olympics and won all the competitions she participated in. Thanks to her efforts, all our girls improved specifically in this weight category, in which they compete on the international stage. This case has been beneficial for our team. Both as an athlete and as a mentor, she had a positive impact,” Yerbol Myrzabosynov was quoted by Bestnews.kz.

The Minister explained that her return to Mongolia was due to the athlete's family circumstances. According to him, the local specialists will continue to develop the Kazakhstani team.
