The Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture commented on the reports regarding the discovery of deadly listeria in chicken meat supplied from Kazakhstan to Russia, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
According to the agency, on January 29, Rosselkhoznadzor announced the introduction of enhanced laboratory control over the products of "Makinskaya Poultry Farm" due to the detection of listeria.
Under this regime, goods can move within the EAEU, but each batch undergoes mandatory inspection.
"At this moment, the committee has not received any information with confirmed results of laboratory tests from Rosselkhoznadzor. According to EAEU Regulation No. 94, authorized bodies are required to inform all interested parties about detected violations within 10 working days. To investigate the reasons for this situation, the Akmolinskaya regional territorial inspection of the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee will conduct an inspection of the enterprise and collect product samples for laboratory testing," the statement said.
Recall that earlier Rosselkhoznadzor reported that as a result of analyzing a sample from a batch of chilled broiler chicken fillet, listeria was detected in poultry from the Kazakh producer "Makinskaya Poultry Farm." The agency has implemented enhanced laboratory control regarding the producer.
Listeria is a bacterium that causes the infectious disease listeriosis and can affect the central nervous system and reproductive organs. It is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, cancer patients, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The incubation period can last up to 90 days. The primary route of infection is through food.
