According to the official website of the Talgar district akimat, the elections for the akim of the city of Talgar took place on December 15, 2024.
A total of 42,774 voters were registered in the city of Talgar, with 12,875 casting their votes.

As a result of the elections, Arystanbek Abilkhairuly, born in 1983 and the director of "Talghar Turgyn Uy," a resident of the city of Talgar, was elected as the akim.
Additionally, it was previously reported by the akimat that 9 candidates were nominated for the position in the city; however, two of them did not meet all the requirements, and four later withdrew their candidacies.
It is worth recalling that following the murder of 16-year-old Sherzat Bolat, which occurred on the night of October 4, several officials, including high-ranking police and prosecutor's office employees, lost their positions in Talgar.
Specifically, the akim of Talgar, Bakyt Kurishbekov, and his deputy, Matan Sagyndyk, were removed from their posts. The head of the akimat's apparatus for the Talgar district, Aslan Kasymbaev, was also relieved of his duties. He was succeeded by Nurzhan Abdalimov.
