A national dictionary fund for the Kazakh language is set to be established in Kazakhstan. The relevant project has been prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
According to the document, the National Dictionary Fund will be formed based on academic and translational dictionaries, the National Corpus of the Kazakh Language, a terminology database, and datasets that include a collection of data in various formats.
"An important aspect of the project is that the National Dictionary Fund of the Kazakh language will become a publicly accessible state information system, which will allow for its most effective use in educational and scientific purposes, as well as for the development of technologies for processing the Kazakh language," the document states.
The following key concepts are used in these rules:
- generation – the process of automatically creating new content (text, images, sound) based on data and pre-established rules;
- artificial intelligence (AI) models – the process of implementing AI technologies and algorithms for processing data in the Kazakh language across various systems, applications, or platforms;
- natural language processing – a machine learning technology that enables computers to interpret, manipulate, and understand human language.
Objectives for the formation of the National Dictionary Fund:
- preservation, protection, and development of the Kazakh language as a cultural value;
- strengthening the status of the state language;
- accumulation of resources covering all areas of application of the Kazakh language;
- systematization, digitization, and generation of the current lexical composition of the language;
- adaptation of the Kazakh language to artificial intelligence and modern technologies;
- automation of language data processing processes.
The project has been posted on the "Open NPA" portal for public discussion until March 19, 2025.
