Renowned sinologist Ivan Zuienko has published yet another rare photo of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
Following the release of images featuring the President of Kazakhstan on his Telegram channel, Ivan Zuienko shared another photograph that, according to the expert, is truly unique.
"This is a photo of a group of trainees from the 1983/1984 academic year during classes at the Beijing Language Institute... The second person in the second row is Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev, currently the President of Kazakhstan. Next to him is Antonina Fedorovna Kotova, who was then the dean of the Historical and Philological Faculty at the Institute of Asian and African Studies of Moscow State University... The person on the far right in the front row is Igor Vladimirovich Morgulov, a graduate of the Institute of Asian and African Studies of Moscow State University and now the ambassador of the Russian Federation to China," - described the photo Zuienko.
"It's a very atmospheric and characteristic photo. From the gender and age composition of the group to the setting in the classroom. A real treasure!" - he added.
As noted by the sinologist, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was the group leader of the first cohort of trainees. In 1984-1985, he worked in the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, which was considered very prestigious at that time.
It is worth mentioning that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev interned at the USSR Embassy in China and participated in an internship at the Beijing Linguistic Institute during 1983-1984. In 1975, he was assigned to work at the Soviet Embassy in Singapore. From 1984 to 1985, he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, and then was sent to the Soviet Embassy in the People's Republic of China, where he served until 1991 in positions including second secretary, first secretary, and advisor.
Ivan Zuienko is a senior researcher at the Institute of International Studies at MGIMO, an associate professor in the Department of Oriental Studies, and a candidate of historical sciences.
