In February, the Border Service of the National Security Committee (KNB), in collaboration with other competent authorities, held 3,216 violators of Kazakh legislation accountable in border areas, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.

Eighteen foreign nationals were held accountable for border violations, while eight foreign nationals faced charges for attempted border violations.

"A total of 1,552 instances of illegal movement across the state border were prevented, including: drug trafficking – 33 cases, including precursors, amounting to 800 liters; weapons and ammunition – 71 cases (4 units of firearms, 1 signaling device, 135 pieces of cold weapons, 1 grenade, 50 rounds of ammunition, and 13 stun guns); religious literature – 29 cases (555 copies); fuel – 638 cases (over 54,000 liters) totaling more than 20 million tenge; consumer goods – 627 cases amounting to over 3.7 billion tenge; currency – 154 cases totaling more than 1.6 billion tenge," the statement reads.

Additionally, seven instances of poaching in the Caspian Sea were thwarted, resulting in the seizure of: 4 vessels; 13.6 kilometers of poaching nets; and 87 sturgeon fish (weighing 522.3 kilograms). The total amount of prevented damage was approximately 205 million tenge.

"Materials regarding these incidents have been forwarded to law enforcement and judicial authorities for holding the violators accountable. No restrictive measures have been imposed at the state border, and all crossing points are functioning normally," the statement indicates.

It was previously reported that the KNB uncovered an illegal immigration scheme into Kazakhstan.
