A blogger shared a video showing how he checked one of the gas stations in Astana. According to him, he discovered a significant shortfall in diesel fuel, as reported by Tengri Auto.
The video circulating online features a young man checking the fuel level at one of the popular gas stations in Astana. The individual who filmed the video claims that the specified gas station is shortchanging customers on diesel fuel. He utilized a certified and sealed measuring device to assess the fuel quantity.
"The scale didn't even register, not even 0.1 DM. Based on my calculations, there is a minimum shortfall of 500 grams for every 20 liters. This is already a violation under the law, as the allowable error should not exceed 40 grams. Be cautious, a shortfall of 100 percent is guaranteed," he explained in the video.
We reached out to the author and learned that he posted the video the day after filming. Additionally, he mentioned that after the video went viral, representatives from government agencies contacted him to inform him that an investigation had begun.
The Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology announced that an unscheduled inspection has been initiated following the citizen's report, and if violations are confirmed, the company will be held accountable.
"To date, we have received a report, and in accordance with the entrepreneurial code, an unscheduled inspection will be conducted. If these violations are confirmed, the individual will face administrative responsibility under Article 419 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
We would also like to note that this organization was previously held administratively accountable for fuel shortfalls in January of this year," explained Bauyrzhan Kasymov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Trade and Integration.
We have sent an inquiry to the company that owns this gas station to gather more details about the incident.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, "Gazpromneft-Kazakhstan" was fined 3 million tenge for shortchanging gasoline, which was identified in Almaty. The company stated that the shortfall was due to a malfunction of one fuel dispenser, which has since been replaced.
