A fire broke out in one of the mosques located in the Karkaralinsk district of the Karaganda region, reports Tengrinews.kz.
According to the "First Karaganda" TV channel, the local mosque building in the village of Tomar was completely destroyed as a result of the incident.
The blaze occurred the night before when the mosque was empty.
"The fire quickly engulfed the building, and thick smoke was visible from afar," the report states.
It was explained that local residents attempted to extinguish the flames before the arrival of the firefighters, but their efforts were insufficient.
The causes of the fire are currently under investigation.
