The Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of the country, Berik Sholpankulov, responded to a question regarding the control of mobile transfers in Kazakhstan for amounts exceeding 255,000 tenge per month, as reported by Tengrinews.kz correspondent.
According to him, there is currently an active discussion on this matter, including the monthly amount that may raise questions from tax authorities upon receipt.
"We are currently working closely with the State Revenue Committee and the banking community. (...) As you know, following last year's requirement, we provide the Individual Identification Number (IIN) for those receiving more than 100 transfers from different individuals. Now they want to see a threshold value, and there is intense discussion regarding this threshold. The aim is to identify active and unregistered entrepreneurs without getting carried away with database transfers," Sholpankulov stated at a Senate briefing.
The Deputy Chairman of the National Bank assured that a decision would only be made if it is approved by the banking community.
"A proposal from the State Revenue Committee has been made; we have discussed it, and now the banking community is considering the technical implementation. If they confirm it, it will be released. If they do not confirm it, the search will continue," Sholpankulov added.
Recall that earlier the State Revenue Committee proposed to introduce a limit on mobile transfers, setting a threshold at three minimum wages, or 255,000 tenge.
