Majilis Deputy Anas Bakkodzhaev admitted that he fears artificial intelligence. This statement was made during the presentation of the relevant bill in the Parliament chamber, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
While discussing the document, the deputy expressed his belief that the use of AI "leads to degradation".
"I approach AI with caution; at times, I even fear it. I believe that this is a path leading to degradation: if a person does not write (some kind of work - ed.), if a composer does not create music, then where are we heading? Are we going to follow global trends regarding AI? And what about our traditions, culture, and intellectual capabilities? I truly fear AI," - stated Bakkodzhaev.
The deputy referred to ChatGPT as "a convenient tool for lazy officials," who operate on the principle of seeking quick praise from their superiors. Bakkodzhaev also raised a question: could the owner of ChatGPT collect personal data and "turn it against us tomorrow"?
"Who is certain about this? Who monitors the processes of AI usage in ministries and departments? How many materials have been shared, who knows? And what if this information is used against us tomorrow? Fine, let’s say it’s not used, but the fact that they know about the problems in Kazakhstan, that other beneficiaries in different states are aware, is also concerning," - said Anas Bakkodzhaev.
Recall that a bill concerning artificial intelligence (AI) was presented in Kazakhstan. As noted by Majilis Deputy Ekaterina Smyslyaeva, the document aims to create a transparent legal framework for the integration of technologies into the Kazakh economy. It is important to mention that the bill has not yet been adopted for consideration; it was merely presented at the meeting of the relevant committee. Subsequently, it will require a review and will be examined in two readings at the plenary sessions of Parliament.
Previously, Deputy Nikita Shatalov posed the question: who will be responsible for potential data leaks of Kazakh citizens following the adoption of the AI law? More details here.
