Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ermek Kenzhehanuly discussed the stability of meat prices in the country and the support for local producers, as reported by a correspondent from the Kapital.kz business information center.
“Last year, Kazakhstan produced over 1.1 million tons of beef and lamb, which fully meets domestic needs. The production volume increased by approximately 4%, including more than 2% for beef. These achievements allow us to provide meat to the population, and we do not see any factors that would lead to a price increase,” said Ermek Kenzhehanuly in the Senate corridors.
The Deputy Minister added that the previous price increase was due to high demand from Uzbekistan.
“However, in recent days, prices have stabilized, and we do not anticipate any further factors that would lead to an increase. We are also considering providing preferential financing at 5% for working capital for livestock breeders. These measures will help further stimulate meat production in the country. Currently, the estimated price for beef is 2700-3000 tenge per kilogram,” he concluded.
It is worth noting that, according to the Bureau of National Statistics, meat and meat product prices increased by 4.2% in 2024.
It was also reported that a third of all Kazakhstani household spending on food is allocated to meat.
