Today, the appellate court in Astana examined the lawsuit filed by the ex-wife of convicted Kuandyk Bishimbayev, Nazym Kakharman, regarding the revocation of his parental rights, reports Tengrinews.kz correspondent.
As reported by Tengrinews.kz correspondent, Bishimbayev's lawyer Erlan Gazymzhanov stated that his client participated in today’s session online.
"They have a special room in the facility where they participate in court proceedings. He went to this room, and they connected him via mobile phone," Gazymzhanov said.
According to the information provided by the parties involved, the appellate panel upheld the decision of the first-instance court: Kuandyk Bishimbayev will not lose his parental rights.
Bishimbayev's ex-wife, Nazym Kakharman, informed the Tengrinews.kz correspondent that she disagrees with this decision. She added that she is "upset and disappointed."
"I am upset and disappointed. It feels like the court and the prosecutor's office are protecting Bishimbayev's interests. I do not agree (with the decision - ed.). We will think and continue to fight," Nazym Kakharman stated.
Meanwhile, Bishimbayev's lawyer Erlan Gazymzhanov added that the convicted former minister does not agree with his ex-wife's lawsuit.
"His position is that he (Bishimbayev - ed.) disagrees with the claim made by his ex-wife Nazym Kakharman. He believes that the revocation of parental rights is entirely illegal and unfounded. The court made the right conclusions that this claim should not be satisfied based on the grounds presented," Gazymzhanov commented.
Recall that on September 27, Bishimbayev's ex-wife appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office and the Supreme Court.
In May, Nazym Kakharman revealed that after the incident, her children wanted to renounce the Bishimbayev surname.
Earlier, social media reported on the escape of former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev, who was convicted for the murder of Saltanat Nukenova. The Committee for the Criminal-Executive System denied this. It later became known that a criminal case had been initiated regarding the dissemination of false information.
