The court in Almaty has detained the author of the satirical public page QazNews24, Temirlan Yensebek, for two months, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.

"Today, a court session took place, and the precautionary measure has been set as detention for a period of two months during the pre-trial investigation. He will be transferred to a detention facility," she stated.
According to her, the defense intends to appeal the court's ruling.
Earlier, the Almaty police department announced that a criminal case is being investigated against the public page administrator for inciting interethnic hatred through social media publications.
Police detained Yensebek and placed him in a temporary detention facility.
Under the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan (Article 174 "Incitement of social, national, clan, racial, class, or religious hatred"), the suspect could face up to seven years in prison.
