A car drove into a crowd at a Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg, Germany, resulting in dozens of injuries, reports Tengrinews.kz citing Bild.
A representative of the state government, Matthias Schuppe, confirmed the attack, according to MDR Sachsen-Anhalt.
The incident occurred at 19:04 local time. The driver was apprehended immediately after the event. There are reports of numerous injuries resulting from the attack.
According to BILD, more than 20 people were injured in the attack, and there may be fatalities.
Videos from surveillance cameras capturing the moment of the incident have surfaced on social media.

According to witnesses, the car headed straight into a crowd near the town hall. The Christmas market was shut down, and organizers urged people to leave the city center.
As reported by Mitteldeutsche Zeitung, the city of Halle, located about 80 kilometers from the scene, immediately heightened security measures at its Christmas market following the attack. Hospitals in the city are preparing to receive the injured, as stated by Tobias Teshner, head of the city's security department.
According to BILD, police are inspecting the cordoned-off area of the Christmas market for explosives.
Authorities later classified the incident as a terrorist attack, with reports indicating that between 60 and 80 people were injured as a result. There may be fatalities.
