The children from the regional orphanage No. 1 will not be relocated from Almaty to a new building outside the city, reports Tengrinews.kz correspondent. This information was provided by the Almaty region's akimat.

It has been revealed that the akim of Almaty region, Marat Sultangaziev, met with the children from orphanage No. 1 in Almaty. To thoroughly examine the situation, the akim held a meeting with representatives of the orphanage, including director Roza Bekisheva, educators, and the children themselves. Also participating in the discussion were children's rights commissioner Dinara Zakiyeva, head of the regional education department Saltanat Bespaeva, the akim of Konayev, and representatives from relevant agencies.

"The children who are already studying in the city will continue their education in a familiar environment. Newly admitted children will be accommodated in Konayev," the akimat reported.

Regional head Marat Sultangaziev noted that "the children expressed a desire to remain in Almaty, as a change of environment could negatively affect their adaptation and socialization." This factor, according to him, was one of the key considerations in the decision-making process.

At the same time, construction of a new orphanage is ongoing in the region. The modern building, with an area of 4,000 square meters, is designed for 240 places.

"It will feature comfortable living quarters, classrooms, and recreational areas. Nearby, there is a school for 900 students, and a specialized bus will be allocated for transporting the children. The opening of the complex is scheduled for summer," the akimat noted.

Additionally, part of the new building will be transferred to the Nusipbaev boarding school, which previously faced infrastructure issues. One of the wings will be used for the needs of the Minor Adaptation Center (MAC), allowing children from different districts of the region to be accommodated without the need to transport them to other cities.

The authorities emphasize that when addressing issues concerning orphans, the priority remains "their interests, comfortable living conditions, and quality education."

Previously, the children from the regional orphanage No. 1 complained that their institution was being moved from Almaty to Konayev. Their video appeal appeared on social media. According to the children, trees have already begun to be cut down on the orphanage's premises.

Meanwhile, community activists expressed confidence that the attractive piece of land in the elite area of Almaty - Baganashil - has caught the attention of some developers, who wish to build a residential complex there.

According to the Almaty region's education department, the issue of relocating the orphanage from Almaty arose due to the emergency condition of the current building, which was constructed in 1963. Therefore, a new building was constructed for them 65 kilometers away from Almaty.
