The Akmolinsk region's Department of Internal Affairs reported that a resident of a rural area submitted a complaint to the police in the Ereymentau district regarding a case of fraud. The man explained that on December 30, 2024, an acquaintance, using his personal information, took out an online loan in his name for the amount of 612,000.
"Previously, the man had already secured a loan for a classmate's family to assist with their child's treatment. However, later, according to the victim's statements, the classmate's wife deceitfully took out merchandise loans in his name without his knowledge, using video verification. After the last loan was issued, the victim contacted the police. An investigation is currently underway to determine all the circumstances of the incident," the department clarified.
Police urge citizens to exercise caution when conducting financial transactions:
- never share personal information, passwords, or verification codes with third parties, even if they are acquaintances or relatives;
- carefully review the terms before signing documents or undergoing video verification;
- regularly check your credit history to ensure there are no unfamiliar obligations.
