Zelensky: "I am ready to sit down for negotiations with Putin."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he is willing to engage in negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin if this is the only way to bring peace to the Ukrainian people, as reported by Tengrinews.kz citing "Ukrainska Pravda."
Зеленский заявил: "Я готов к переговорам с Путиным."

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that he is ready to sit down for negotiations with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, if that is the only way to bring peace to the Ukrainian people, reports Tengrinews.kz, citing "Ukrainian Truth".

"If this is the only configuration in which we can achieve peace for Ukrainians and not lose people – of course, we will go for it," Zelensky said in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.

Zelensky also noted that his personal feelings towards the Kremlin leader do not matter in this case: "I consider him an enemy. And, to be honest, I think he considers me an enemy too."

The head of state further emphasized that Ukraine cannot currently reclaim all its territories and "cannot afford to lose millions of people for a result that may never materialize."

He added that the country cannot "break the oath given to those who sacrificed their lives for the country in this war." Additionally, it is imperative not to violate the Constitution and recognize the occupied territories as Russian.

At the same time, Zelensky once again ruled out the possibility of holding elections in Ukraine during military operations.

Previously, Putin stated that he considers Zelensky an illegitimate president, as his term expires in May 2024, meaning he has no right to sign a peace agreement.

As reported earlier, Zelensky asked the West for nuclear weapons as an alternative to Ukraine's membership in NATO during his interview with Piers Morgan.
