In an interview just before his performance for the Kazakh audience, the musician shared his sources of inspiration, the unifying power of art, and the role of women in shaping society.

- Maestro Barakatt, what will you be performing at "Astana Opera" and why were these pieces chosen? What significance do they hold in your work?

- It is a great honor for me to perform at "Astana Opera," on a stage that embodies the highest level of artistic mastery and cultural heritage. The program will feature key moments from some of my most significant compositions, including the piece that inspired the name of my world tour, Néoréalité, as well as "Flying," "Homeland," the UNICEF anthem "Lullaby," and several movements from the symphony Ad Vitam Aeternam. This concert will come to life in collaboration with the Symphony Orchestra, the ballet troupe (choreographed by Aidan Kalzhan), and the children's choir of the "Astana Opera" theater, led by Altynganym Akhmetova, creating a truly multidisciplinary artistic experience. These pieces were chosen not only for their musical importance but also for their ability to tell stories and evoke deep emotions. This concert is dedicated to honoring dreams, resilience, and the connection between people—the central themes that have always been at the core of my work.

- What inspires your creativity?

- Inspiration comes from many sources—life experiences, emotions, travels, and the incredible personalities I meet. Music is a universal language that allows us to express what words cannot. I have always been fascinated by the power of storytelling through music. Whether composing anthems for nations, humanitarian projects, or deeply personal works, I strive to create something timeless that resonates with people on an emotional level. This connection with audiences around the world is my greatest source of inspiration.

- You will be performing with the Symphony Orchestra of "Astana Opera." What are your feelings about this collaboration?

- I am excited to collaborate with the Symphony Orchestra of "Astana Opera," a group known for its vibrant energy. Performing with an orchestra breathes new life into my compositions, allowing them to take on a grander scale with rich texture and depth. The special choral and ballet components will also add extraordinary dimension to the performance. It is always a pleasure to see different artistic disciplines come together to create something unique and powerful. I look forward to this dynamic collaboration and the energy we will share with the audience.

- Your performance at "Astana Opera" will take place on International Women's Day, March 8. What are your wishes for the female listeners on this day?

- International Women's Day is a moment when we honor the strength, creativity, and contributions of women around the world. Women are creators not only in artistic and intellectual senses but also in the deepest understanding—they give life as mothers. Their role in shaping future generations and society as a whole is immeasurable. May this concert be an inspiring and uplifting experience that celebrates the beauty of music and its ability to unite us all.

- What is the message and main idea of the world tour Néoréalité?

Néoréalité is a reimagining of reality, an acceptance of change, and an expansion of creative and personal boundaries. It is a musical journey that encourages listeners to dream beyond any limitations and explore new possibilities. This concert at "Astana Opera" beautifully reflects this vision. By combining music, orchestration, choral elements, and ballet, we create a performance that transcends traditional formats. I hope that audiences leave feeling inspired and empowered to shape their own new reality.
