In Almaty, gasoline is generally more expensive, particularly the 98 and 95 octane options. Diesel remains priced the same, but Astana offers more premium choices. Liquefied gas is still at the level of 84 tenge in Astana.
It is worth noting that starting February 1, the wholesale price of gas will increase from 45,158 tenge to 51,932 tenge per ton, which will lead to a retail price increase of 6-21 tenge depending on the region.
The phased liberalization will inevitably result in price hikes, but the authorities promise social support for vulnerable groups and agricultural producers.
We will continue to monitor the developments in the fuel market.
Recall that the Ministry of Energy has announced plans for a phased liberalization of prices for petroleum products (GSM) to eliminate the price gap with neighboring countries and minimize the risk of "gray" exports.
