Parking fees at Almaty Airport will not be increased following the intervention of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition, reports the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the antimonopoly authority.
“The Department of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition for the city of Almaty issued a warning regarding the inadmissibility of violating the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the area of competition protection to JSC 'Almaty International Airport.' The warning was prompted by an announcement made by the press service of Almaty International Airport in December 2024 about a planned increase in parking service fees starting January 1, 2025,” stated the AZRK.
According to Article 198 of the Entrepreneurial Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the antimonopoly authority has the right to send a written warning to officials of market entities, government bodies, or local executive bodies regarding the inadmissibility of actions that could lead to violations of legislation in the area of competition protection.
Thanks to the timely actions of the antimonopoly authority, Almaty International Airport abandoned its plans to raise parking fees. This helped to avoid additional financial burdens on passengers.
