The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that local residents set out to search for livestock on the morning of January 24. By evening, they had lost contact, and worried relatives sought help from rescuers.
"On January 25, the missing men were found with the help of a helicopter. They were located 30 km from the village of Kokterek in the Alakol district. Their vehicle had become stuck in a snowdrift in an area without mobile coverage," the ministry stated.
The victims did not require medical assistance.
On January 25, 2025, a fire was extinguished at the "Almaty Arena" Ice Palace, which had started on the first floor of the small hall of the indoor rink, where sports equipment had caught fire. Three children, born in 2013, 2016, and 2019, were evacuated using rescue hoods.
