U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Vladimir Zelensky "disrespected the United States" and is "not ready for peace," as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
Trump's remarks were shared on the social media platform Truth Social.
"Today, we had a very significant meeting at the White House. We learned a lot that cannot be understood without a conversation under such tension and pressure. It's amazing how emotions reveal the essence, and I've come to the conclusion that President Zelensky is not ready for peace if the U.S. is involved, as he believes our participation gives him a significant advantage in negotiations. I don’t want an advantage; I want PEACE. He showed disrespect to the United States in their sacred Oval Office. He can return when he is ready for peace," the statement read.
As a reminder, during the meeting at the White House between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, American leader Donald Trump, and U.S. Vice President JD Vance , a heated argument ensued.
Trump expressed the view that Zelensky should be more grateful to the U.S. because Ukraine "doesn't have the right cards in hand" to dictate its terms to Washington. In response, the Ukrainian president countered that he came to the United States "not to play cards."
Additionally, a video captured the reaction of Ukraine's Ambassador to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, to the exchange between Zelensky and Trump.
