U.S. President Donald Trump discussed plans to hold meetings and contacts with representatives from Russia and Ukraine, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
The Fox News channel aired his speech at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington.
"We had a very busy weekend. We are dealing with Israel. We are addressing Ukraine and Russia. Meetings and negotiations are scheduled with various parties, including Ukraine and Russia," he stated.
According to him, "these discussions are going quite successfully."
Recall that on February 1, Trump mentioned that his administration is already engaged in "very serious" negotiations with Moscow regarding the war in Ukraine and that he and Russian President Putin may soon take "significant" actions to end the nearly three-year conflict.
Earlier, during a press briefing, the American leader hinted at a conversation that had already taken place with Putin.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that a meeting with Trump is a prerequisite for moving towards dialogue with Moscow in one form or another.
The U.S. President has repeatedly expressed his willingness to engage with his Russian counterpart, including a meeting. Putin has also made similar statements. However, no specific arrangements for a meeting or a phone call between the two heads of state have been reported yet.
Putin has stated that he considers Zelensky an illegitimate president, as his term expires in May 2024, which means he does not have the right to sign a peace agreement.
