Before the arrival of the fire departments, around 80 people managed to exit the building on their own. Subsequently, rescuers urgently evacuated 21 individuals, including 11 children.
"According to updated information, a fire broke out in a storage room of a furniture workshop located in the basement of a five-story residential building on Respublika Avenue in the Saryarka district. The fire was extinguished over an area of 50 square meters," the ministry reported.
There are no reports of injuries.
It was previously reported that a large fire occurred in Almaty. In the Almalinsky district on Auezov Street, the roof and attic of a two-story administrative building caught fire. It was assumed that a security agency was on fire.
