Peruashov referred to his remarks about a "penalty state" as an "unfortunate term."

Deputy of the Mazhilis, Azat Peruashev, acknowledged that his term "fine city" was poorly chosen, reports Tengrinews.kz correspondent.
Перуашев охарактеризовал свои слова о "штрафстане" как "неудачный термин".

Majilis Deputy Azat Peruashov acknowledged that his term "fine country" was poorly chosen, reports Tengrinews.kz correspondent.

While speaking with journalists in the corridors of the Majilis, he was reminded of his statement.

"I agree with Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich. When we talk about our country, we have no other country - we must consider how it is perceived by others. It’s one thing when we discuss internal issues to solve them, and another when it turns into some kind of meme. We are interested in attracting foreign investors and tourists to our country. They will not come to a bad country; they will come to a country that respects itself and has something to be proud of. And we do have reasons to be proud," the deputy explained.

He noted that his speech was about the proportionality of fines and administrative penalties, but the term he chose was unfortunate.

"I used an unfortunate term. It will be a lesson. In Parliament, we need to use official language," Peruashov stated in the corridors of the Majilis.

It should be noted that on January 28 during an extended government meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed outrage that his own citizens label Kazakhstan negatively.

"Global experience shows that without coercive measures, it is impossible to achieve order, and therefore we need to understand the actions of the state. There should be public consensus through dialogue. In any case, the measures taken by the state to ensure lawful order should not serve as grounds for labeling our country," the Head of State said.

On December 4, 2024, the Majilis approved the law "On Amendments and Additions to the Code of Administrative Offenses" in its second reading. The leader of the "Ak Zhol" party, Azat Peruashov, opposed this document, referring to the country as a "fine country."
