According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire broke out on the second floor, where items and furniture were burning over an area of seven square meters.
"Two people were rescued via the staircase using caps, and four others were evacuated," the agency reported.
The owner of the apartment, born in 1950, was taken to the hospital with burns. Emergency assistance from the Disaster Medicine Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was also needed for two other residents of the building.
It was previously reported that the cause of the fire, which occurred on January 25 at the "Almaty Arena" Ice Palace, might have been arson or children's mischief. The city's emergency department noted that a final determination would be made following an expert assessment.
