Since the beginning of the year, over 40 families in the capital have contacted the eOtinish and iKomek services with complaints about rats. Residents of the Nura, Esil, and Almaty districts have encountered rodents most frequently. These so-called rodent colonies have formed on the left bank, primarily on central streets and near new residential complexes, reports "24 kz".
According to residents of a new building on Turan Avenue, the rats behave quite freely. They are not afraid of light and do not hide from passersby.
Disinfection and rodent control are funded by the residents. Each visit by specialists to the nine-story building costs the residents 15,000 tenge, but getting rid of the rodents in one go is not possible. It takes at least a month, more than 10 kg of poison, and 60 traps.
Nevertheless, the invasion of rats in Astana is anticipated by health and disinfection company workers. An increase in the rodent population in the city is expected by the beginning of spring.
Meanwhile, residents of Atyrau face a different problem. Their homes are collapsing due to dampness, and they are urgently requesting relocation.
