A citizen of Kazakhstan changed his identity and obtained a passport from another country to evade child support payments, reports Tengrinews.kz citing Polisia.kz.
The Migration Service of the West Kazakhstan Police Department identified a 48-year-old man who was wanted for avoiding alimony payments. It was found that while in Russia, the man altered his personal information (surname and patronymic) and subsequently acquired citizenship and a passport of the Russian Federation.
"By falsifying his data, the man was able to cross the border of the Republic of Kazakhstan without hindrance, misleading law enforcement agencies and border services. Currently, the fact of dual citizenship has been established, and the man has been held administratively liable. According to the court's decision, the offender has been fined 540,000 tenge," the statement said.
It is noted that in 2024, police officers in the region uncovered 57 cases of dual citizenship.
Recall that in December 2024, three Russians were expelled from Kazakhstan for holding dual citizenship.
