In its statement, the studio clarified the situation regarding the trip of the film crew of "Abel" to a European film festival. Due to a limited budget for promoting films, "Kazakhfilm" employs a practice of collaborating with private film companies. In this case, the promotion of the film is handled by a partner — LLP "Tanaris," which, according to the agreement, took on the responsibilities for financing the film's participation in international film markets and festivals. However, at this point, there has been no response from the company regarding the request to fund the creative team's trip. Despite this, the studio continues to support the promotion of the film within its means.
The film studio emphasized that it is always open to dialogue with filmmakers and has met multiple times with the authors of "Abel." In its response, "Kazakhfilm" also categorically denied the information regarding the sale of land and the intentional destruction of the studio, calling these claims baseless and false.
Additionally, the statement addressed the issue of an unauthorized rally that took place on February 25, 2025, in front of the film studio building in Almaty. As explained by "Kazakhfilm," the participants of the action expressed concerns about the future of the animation industry in Kazakhstan. In response, the studio's management held explanatory discussions, after which a decision was made to conduct an expanded meeting with industry representatives.
Regarding the potential relocation of LLP "Kazakhanimation" to Astana, the studio noted that this question is under discussion, and preliminary meetings with industry representatives have already taken place. In early January, a meeting was held with the former head of LLP "Kazakhanimation," Aibike Rakhimzhanova, where the option of relocating the division to the capital for the further development of animation as an independent direction was considered.
In conclusion, "Kazakhfilm" called on all interested parties to engage in constructive dialogue for the development of domestic cinema.
