On January 18 and 19, the iconic ballet "Swan Lake" by Pyotr Tchaikovsky will be performed at the Grand Hall of "Astana Opera." Вечная классика: балет «Лебединое озеро» будет показан на сцене театра «Астана Опера».

The leading soloist of the theater, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Aigerim Beketayeva, will perform the roles of Odette – the delicate swan queen – and Odile – her seductive counterpart, on January 18. She will be joined by theater soloist Dias Kurmangazy, who will portray Prince Siegfried.

On January 19, audiences will witness the debut of young soloist Sofia Adilkhanova in the role of Odette-Odile, alongside her partner, ballet troupe artist Erkin Bazarbaev, in the role of the prince. Preparing for these roles is a true test for the dancers, demanding refined technique, acting skills, and partnership.

- "Swan Lake" also requires complete dedication. The ballerina must gracefully convey the movements of the swan while not forgetting all the complex classical positions. This is quite a labor-intensive experience, which improves with each performance," shared Sofia Adilkhanova.

The story underlying the production is based on an ancient German legend about Princess Odette, who is transformed into a swan by an evil sorcerer. Only love and fidelity can break the spell, but betrayal will condemn her to eternal captivity in the form of a bird.

The choreographic adaptation of "Swan Lake" was presented by the artistic director of the ballet troupe, People's Artist of Russia Altynai Asylmuratova. The premiere of her version took place in 2017 during the theater's tour at the Royal Opera House in Muscat. Since then, the performance has consistently delighted audiences and has been a sell-out.

- This ballet is timeless. Our predecessors watched it, and our descendants will admire it," noted Altynai Asylmuratova. The musical accompaniment will be provided by the theater's Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Arman Urazgaliev.
