The 2025 Oscars ceremony may be canceled due to wildfires in Los Angeles.

The 97th ceremony of the world's premier film awards is in jeopardy due to a catastrophic crisis caused by wildfires. Representatives from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, including Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, and Steven Spielberg, are monitoring the situation daily to make a final decision.

An insider revealed that the Academy is concerned about creating a celebratory atmosphere amidst the significant losses and tragedies faced by the residents of Los Angeles. “The city will be recovering from this pain for a long time, even if the fires are extinguished in the coming days,” he added.

The fires have already caused damage to many notable Hollywood figures, including Anthony Hopkins, Paris Hilton, and Mel Gibson, whose homes have been destroyed. Members of the Academy's board of directors have also been affected.

Previously, the Academy canceled the nominees' luncheon and postponed the announcement of the contenders to January 23. There is a proposal to turn the ceremony into a charity telethon to aid those impacted.
