Betashar is one of the most vibrant and symbolic rituals of the Kazakh people, performed during the introduction of the bride into the groom's family. Its recognition at the international level highlights the significance of traditions passed down through generations.

The nomination was developed by experts from the National Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage under the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO. Kazakhstan's Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Askar Abdrakhmanov, noted that the inclusion of Betashar in the heritage list strengthens efforts to preserve cultural diversity and promote traditions.
