A modern take on Cinderella will be showcased at the "Astana Opera" stage.

In December, the "Astana Opera" stage will host captivating performances that promise to create a truly festive atmosphere for the audience. A highlight of the season is the vibrant ballet "Cinderella," which will be presented on December 29, 30, and 31. This modern interpretation is brought to life by German choreographer Raimondo Rebeck, who has reimagined the beloved fairy tale, as reported by IAEl.kz, citing the theater's press service.
На сцене «Астана Опера» представят современную версию сказки о Золушке.

Rebek Raimondo, the librettist and choreographer known in the capital for productions such as "Beethoven – Immortality – Love" and "How Long Does Now Last?", has reimagined the classic tale of Cinderella. In this version, the protagonist is portrayed as a young woman aspiring to establish herself in the world of high fashion as a clothing designer. The Prince also takes on a modern persona: he is a musician who embodies the talents of both a composer and a DJ.

This interpretation makes the fairy tale relatable and accessible to audiences of all ages, while humor and unexpected elements encourage a fresh perspective on familiar characters. One of the most striking innovations in the set design is the new symbol of the fairy tale – a carriage shaped like an elegant stiletto heel, representing the realm of high fashion.

Throughout the performances on different days, there will be notable debuts; the role of the Prince will be performed for the first time by the Honored Artist of Kazakhstan, Erkin Rakhmatullaev, and Dias Kurmangazy, while the role of the Stepmother will be a debut for Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Anel Rustemova. Additionally, Aidan Kalzhan will take the stage for the first time in the role of the Fairy.

- It is a great joy and at the same time a responsibility for me to perform the role of the Prince in the ballet "Cinderella" for the first time. This character is incredibly close to the modern audience, as our Prince is a young man passionate about music and creativity, a person of his time. Although this role resonates with me, having played many princes in various performances, working on this part has marked a new stage for me; I had to blend classical romance with the energy of today. I am grateful to the artistic leadership of the theater for the opportunity to engage with this truly interesting interpretation, which is filled with humor and new meanings. Therefore, I sincerely hope the audience will feel the magic and celebration that we aim to bring to the stage, - noted Honored Artist of Kazakhstan and leading soloist of the ballet company Erkin Rakhmatullaev.

The foundation of the production is the immortal music of Sergei Prokofiev, complemented by works from legendary artists such as Jimmy Durante, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Louis Armstrong. The symphonic orchestra "Astana Opera" will perform under the baton of People's Artist of Kazakhstan, conductor Abzal Mukitdin.

Moreover, for the young audience, the theater has prepared another captivating production on December 26 and 27: young guests will enjoy the opera-fairy tale "Puss in Boots" by Caesar Cui.
