A gala concert will be held in the capital to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sydyk Mukhamendzhanov.

On February 15, the Chamber Hall named after K. Baiseitova at the "Astana Opera" theater will host a concert titled "A Century Woven with Song," dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the remarkable composer, People's Artist of the USSR, and laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR, Sydyk Mukhamzhanov, as reported by IAEl.kz, citing the theater's press service.
В честь 100-летия Сыдыка Мухамеджанова в столице состоится гала-концерт.

The concept for the musical evening comes from Galya Baigazinova, a Honored Artist of Kazakhstan and soprano, who, along with her colleagues—soloists from the "Astana Opera" theater and invited artists—will perform both popular and rarely heard works by the composer.

The works of Sydyk Mukhametjanov hold a special place in the repertoire of the "Astana Opera" theater. Last November, in honor of the composer’s centenary, the premiere of his comic opera "Aysulu" was successfully held on the stage of the Grand Hall, receiving high praise from critics and audiences alike. Celebratory events related to this anniversary continue at the capital’s theater this year as well.

– The works of Sydyk Mukhametjanov, who left an indelible mark on the history of Kazakh culture, will never lose their relevance and demand, as his music intertwines tradition, guidance, and education. His songs captivate with their profound lyricism and melodiousness. I first encountered the music of this talented composer while studying at the conservatory. Since then, his songs and romances have remained in my repertoire—I continue to perform them at solo concerts and always strive to present new pieces to the audience that I haven’t performed before. It’s safe to say that Sydyk Mukhametjanov’s works hold a special place in my heart, – shared her thoughts Galya Baigazinova, Honored Artist of Kazakhstan.

The idea's author, Galya Baigazinova, mentioned that she prepared for the concert for a long time, searching for little-known and unpublished works by the composer.

– The idea of dedicating the evening to the 100th anniversary of Sydyk Mukhametjanov and thus paying tribute to his memory has lived in my soul for a long time. The concert's title "Әнмен өрілген ғасыр" carries a deep symbolic meaning, as his music has been resonating for many decades. In this anniversary concert, I wanted to present songs that have never been performed before. I plan to introduce listeners who are not yet familiar with his work to his remarkable pieces, including a concert for the kobyz, – the singer added.

Renowned musicians have shared their thoughts about Sydyk Mukhametjanov. Notably, the famous Gaziza Zhubanova said about him: "We are all simply composers. Sydyk is the one—composer by the grace of God."

It's worth mentioning that on this evening, alongside Galya Baigazinova, her colleagues—the soloists of the opera troupe and international competition laureates Dinmukhamed Koshkinbaev and Talgat Allabirinov—will take the stage, as well as the theater choir led by Honored Figure of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Dautov. Additionally, the evening will feature the international competition laureate soprano Zhuldiz Naken. The piano parts will be played by the theater's concertmasters, Honored Figure of Kazakhstan Raushan Beskembirova and Aishabibi Askarova.

The concert's rich program includes works by Sydyk Mukhametjanov set to the poetry of Abai Kunanbaev: "Құлақтан кіріп бойды алар," "Жарқ етпес қара көңілім не қылса да," "Өзгеге, көңілім, тоярсың," as well as romances and songs with lyrics by Saken Seifullin—"Бозторғай," "Жазғы таңнан бері," "Қарқаралы." The evening will be adorned with arrangements of the song by Segiz Serі "Әйкен-ай" and compositions by George Byron "О, как поешь, милая, ты."

Moreover, rarely performed pieces such as "Сағындым-ау," "Жазғы дала," "Қызғалдақ," "Алматы вальсі," "Көктем вальсі" will also be featured. Audiences will also enjoy the aria of Aysulu from the opera "Aysulu" and the aria of Akhtokty from the opera "Akan Seri – Akhtokty."

During the concert, the Concert for the Kobyz by Sydyk Mukhametjanov will be presented for the first time on the stage of the Chamber Hall named after K. Bayseitova, performed by the holder of the badge "Madeniet salasyngyn uzdigi" (Excellence in Culture of the RK) kobyz player Kenjegul Musaeva. The piano part will be performed by international competition laureate Shakhizada Kulseitova.

The concert will begin at 17:00.
