This year, 15 domestic films were released for wide distribution: “Alma men adam,” “Zhel toqtaghan zher,” “Almaty, I Love You,” “Life After,” “Soñğı ükim,” “Zhambyl. Zhana däuir,” “Bauryna salu,” “Operation ‘Nabat,’” “Shulamah,” “Nosorog” (“Dala qasqyry”), “Bratya,” “Soldat lyubvi” (“Stop, Night”), “Talak,” “Mama, I’m Alive!,” and “Kazhimukan.” All these films were produced with state funding.
Seven films received 34 international awards, and the film “Bauryna salu” was nominated for an Oscar.
Kazakh cinema days took place in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, contributing to the active promotion of Kazakh cinematic art.
One of the significant cultural events in the country was the XVII International Film Festival “Eurasia.” The event gathered numerous guests, including renowned figures in the arts and filmmakers.
“Kazakhfilm” continues to work on preserving the legacy of the film studio, digitizing 11 films stored in the State Film Fund of the Russian Federation, which are part of the golden collection of Kazakh cinema, while 7 films produced during the Soviet era by “Kazakhfilm” are currently undergoing restoration.
Key points of international cooperation include the launch of filming for the movie “Pobeditely vidno na starte” - a joint production of Kazakhstan, France, the Netherlands, and Lithuania, as well as Kazakhstan's participation in the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival.
This year, the Hollywood blockbuster “Oyjumbak 2” (“Inside Out 2”), and animated films “Gadkiy ya 4” and “Moana 2” were released in Kazakh.
Amendments have been developed and submitted to Parliament for consideration to simplify strict requirements for selecting foreign films for dubbing into the Kazakh language. The Ministry plans to continue working to increase the share of films in the state language. Currently, amendments to the law “On Cinematography” concerning state support for “Kazakhfilm” are also being considered in the Senate.
