Social benefits for citizens of Kazakhstan are not merely financial assistance; they serve as a crucial support mechanism for families, particularly those with multiple children. Currently, over a million Kazakhstani citizens receive various types of state payments. Starting from January 1, 2025, the amount of all state benefits for families with children will increase by 6.5%. To find out what changes await citizens, read the article on inbusiness.kz.
The social benefits system in Kazakhstan is designed to encourage birth rates, support child-rearing within families, and enhance the prestige of motherhood for large families. For instance, the one-time birth allowance in 2025 will be:
The child care allowance for unemployed women with children under one and a half years is also differentiated: for the first child, it is 22,648 tenge (5.76 MRP), for the second child 26,777 tenge (6.81 MRP), for the third child 30,866 tenge (7.85 MRP), and for the fourth child and beyond 34,995 tenge (8.90 MRP).
Families raising children with disabilities receive 74,427 tenge (1.61 PM) per month.
"The amount of state social benefits for disability depends on the group and cause of disability, as well as the amount of the minimum subsistence level established by law in the republican budget for the relevant financial year. Moreover, according to the draft law 'On the Republican Budget for 2025-2027', the amounts of state social benefits for disability are planned to be increased by 6.5% from the current amount starting January 1, 2025," the ministry noted.
Historically, in Kazakhstan, mothers of many children have been held in high regard, and today the state, represented by the Ministry of Labor, continues this tradition by striving to support this demographic. For mothers of many children awarded with the "Altyn Alqa" and "Kumis Alqa" pendants, as well as the "Maternal Glory" orders of I and II degree, and for women honored with the title of "Heroine Mother," the payments will range from 25,165 to 29,097 tenge, depending on the award.
The state allowance for families with four or more children is also calculated based on the MRP. For example, a family with four children will receive 63,030 tenge (16.03 MRP), with five children – 78,797 tenge (20.04 MRP), with six children – 94,565 tenge (24.05 MRP), with seven children – 110,332 tenge (28.06 MRP), and families with eight or more children will receive 15,728 tenge (4 MRP) for each child.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection emphasizes:
"Indexing allowances is part of a systematic effort to support the most vulnerable segments of the population. Kazakhstani citizens should be assured of the stability and fairness of the state's social policy."
As a journalist, and more importantly, as a working mother, I understand how significant these changes are. State social benefits for families, especially those raising children with special needs, are a vital support amid rising prices and the unchanged minimum wage for the second consecutive year. However, the amount of these payments still remains modest.
