As of January 1, 2025, the total portfolio of loans for individuals reached 24.1 trillion tenge, marking a 22.9% increase over the year. This was announced today at the annual Media Day press conference organized by the First Credit Bureau, where key events in the credit market over the past year were traditionally discussed, reports inbusiness.kz.
According to the Credit Bureau, by the beginning of 2025, the volume of unsecured consumer loan debt reached 11.7 trillion tenge (+22.9% year-on-year). The number of contracts grew more moderately, increasing by 15.7% to 31.5 million units.
Last year, the issuance of unsecured consumer loans amounted to 10.6 trillion tenge, which is a 15.8% increase compared to 2023. The number of contracts reached 36.9 million units (+14.3% year-on-year). The average loan amount per contract was 287 thousand tenge, which is a modest increase of 1.3%, significantly lower than the rise in consumer prices (8.6%).
By January 1, 2025, the mortgage portfolio reached 6.7 trillion tenge, increasing by 14.1% over the year. The number of contracts rose by 9.9%, totaling 627.6 thousand units, while the number of borrowers approached 600 thousand people, reflecting a 10.3% increase year-on-year.
Nearly 60% of the current mortgage portfolio consists of new loans issued in 2023 and 2024. Last year saw a significant revival in mortgage lending: the total volume of contracts reached 2.2 trillion tenge (+27.8% year-on-year), and the number of loans increased by 18.9%, totaling 136.8 thousand units. The number of borrowers who took out mortgages rose by 21% compared to 2023, reaching 134 thousand people.
As of January 1, 2024, the auto loan portfolio reached 3.6 trillion tenge, reflecting a 44.8% increase over the year. The number of contracts stood at 591.2 thousand units, and the number of borrowers was 559.2 thousand people. Both figures grew by nearly a third compared to the previous year.
The volume of auto loan issuance in 2024 amounted to 1.8 trillion tenge, marking a 13.2% year-on-year increase. The number of borrowers reached 214 thousand people (+10.2%), while the number of contracts was 228.4 thousand units (+5.7%).
