The development of a new Tax Code, which may include a potential increase in VAT rates, has become the focal point of the AMANAT party faction meeting. The relevant committee has begun analyzing and preparing the party's stance on sensitive issues concerning the upcoming significant increase in tax burdens proposed by the government. The meeting took place on Friday, January 31, as reported by the correspondent from inbusiness.kz.
"The reforms proposed by the president will help address many longstanding issues in the economy and other sectors. The AMANAT party, as the leading political force in the country, must drive the implementation of all directives from the head of state. They are all aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens. We need to effectively communicate the progressive nature of these reforms to society and unite Kazakhs around the course set by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev,” stated the party leader and speaker of the Mazhilis, Erlan Koshanov.
According to him, the relevant committee should develop a specific position on increasing VAT and lowering its application threshold, taking into account international experience as well as analyzing the impact on the economy and business environment. Furthermore, in the shortest possible time, deputies will need to take measures to create a clear and transparent legislative framework for subsoil users, diversify the economy, and develop infrastructure, energy, and agriculture. This will establish new rules for attracting foreign investment and creating additional jobs in the country.
