The President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber Alikhan Smailov, as reported by inbusiness.kz citing Akorda.
Alikhan Smailov:
presented a report on the results of the Supreme Audit Chamber's activities for 2024 and plans for the current period;
– as a result, violations totaling 862 billion tenge were identified;
– following the audits, 135 billion tenge were returned to the budget, which is five times the amount reimbursed in 2023;
– to address these violations, the Supreme Audit Chamber sent recommendations to the government and directives to the responsible state bodies;
– at the instruction of the head of state, audits will be conducted on the budgets of the cities of Astana and Almaty, as well as the North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and Zhambyl regions, and on the "Samruk-Kazyna" fund, the national company "Kazatomprom", the Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC), the National Bank, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations;
– the audit will cover areas such as science, defense, law enforcement, sports, social welfare, and forestry.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to continue improving the state audit system. He also emphasized the importance of implementing modern digital solutions to ensure effective control over the use of budgetary funds.
