In January, the acceleration of annual inflation occurred in 14 regions, while in six regions the indicator remained unchanged, reports a correspondent from the business information center Kapital.kz, citing data from the National Bank.
Recall that by the end of January 2025, the annual inflation rate in the country accelerated to 8.9%, compared to 8.6% in December 2024. The monthly inflation rate for the country in January was 1.1%.
The highest annual inflation rate was recorded in Astana.
Food prices in January rose to 5.8% year-on-year (up from 5.5% in December 2024). The maximum price increase in this category occurred in the Zhetisu region (7.9%), while the minimum was in the Turkestan region (3.3%).
The growth rate of prices for non-food items accelerated in January to 8.4% year-on-year (up from 8.3% in December 2024). The highest rate was noted in the Turkestan region (13.1%), and the lowest in the Pavlodar region (5.7%).
Prices for paid services in January increased at a faster pace to 13.8% year-on-year (compared to 13.3% in December 2024). Prices in Astana rose significantly above the national average (17.8%), while they increased significantly less in the Turkestan region (9.3%).
It was previously reported that the National Bank plans to refine its inflation reduction strategy in collaboration with the government.
In the AFC, it was noted that against the backdrop of accelerating monthly inflation to the highest level in the last 11 months (1.1% in January) and discussions about reforms in the tax system, the perception of inflation for the next year has worsened. The average forecast for expected inflation in a year has risen to 10.6% from 9.4% previously.
