The first stage of construction for a modern fish farming complex has been completed in Konev. The facility will have the capacity to cultivate up to 10,000 tons of trout and barramundi annually, according to a correspondent from the business information center Kapital.kz, citing the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Construction of the complex, which spans an area of 35 hectares, began in 2021. In October 2023, the first test stocking of 25,000 trout and barramundi fry was successfully conducted. The first phase of construction is set to be completed in 2024. The complex will consist of technological, administrative, and engineering-technical blocks. The facility has been equipped with tanks for the imported fish, filtration systems, incubation reservoirs, and workshops for breeding live feed, including artemia and rotifers.

It is anticipated that the primary markets for the products will be Kazakhstan and the CIS countries.
Earlier, it was reported that the number of entrepreneurs engaged in fish farming in the Tolebi district of the Turkestan region has reached 16. Last year, four entrepreneurs established fish farms using their own funds.
From January to September 2024, the country produced 9.3 thousand tons of prepared or preserved fish, as well as caviar and its substitutes, which is 10.5% less than in the same period of 2023.
