The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Amangali Berdalin, visited the Sarja port in the Kuryk settlement, where a ceremony was held for the departure of ships for the commercial fishing of sprat. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture. After three decades, the Mangistau region is reviving the traditions of commercial fishing.
One of the initial steps in this direction was the acquisition and registration of two trawlers by LLP “Aktau Balyk Company.” The company plans to catch about 10,000 tons of Caspian sprat annually, supplying the domestic market. Next year, to increase the catch volume to 30,000 tons, the company intends to expand its fleet by purchasing four more modern trawlers.
The project by LLP “Aktau Balyk Company” is a significant step towards the development of the region's fishing industry, aiding in job creation, increasing the number of domestic specialists in commercial fishing, and strengthening food security.
Commercial fishing in the Mangistau region thrived until 1991, when the enterprise “Mangyshlak Rybhodflot” operated, supplying the region and other countries with fish products.
