In April 2024, due to large-scale flooding in Kazakhstan, the need to save financial resources for disaster relief, and assist the citizens of the country, the president decided to cancel the International Forum Astana scheduled for June 13-14, 2024. It was specified that the forum would resume in 2025.
In November 2024, during his first official visit to Hungary, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited leaders of Hungarian companies to participate in the International Forum Astana. At that time, it became known that the event would take place in May 2025.
Recall that at an expanded government meeting on January 28, 2025, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that despite the challenging situation in the world, positive results have been achieved in Kazakhstan. The economy is growing, but there are still many unresolved issues, so the government must make tough decisions and, most importantly, implement them to prevent economic stagnation and ensure sustainable development.
"This task is within the capabilities of civil servants who possess high qualifications and are ready to take on responsibility. Global experience shows that the effectiveness of the government apparatus is largely manifested in such difficult situations. No matter how hard it is, the government must ensure total savings of funds and their expenditure only on the most pressing issues. It's time to tighten our belts and live within our means," he said.
